Updated Itinerary

Luci and I really like small town celebrations. Fourth of July, community concerts in the park, rodeos, or whatever, are events we will look for on this journey. So we have altered our route to take in the Rodeo in Oakley, Utah (just east of Salt Lake City) on July 4th. It will be last night of a four-day event.

We’ve changed the itinerary to accommodate this and also to address our concern that the high country in Yosemite might not be open yet in early July.  We now plan to go to Yellowstone in Week 6 and Yosemite in Week 12/13. This also make a little more sense in getting to the Canadian Rockies in mid July.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

This mostly a test post so don’t get too excited. Look for an updated itinerary and map this week. We are visiting Dot and Carter in Vermont. Winnie is coming home to play with Felix for a couple of weeks.

Not quite spring

We had a nice day here. Despite the lingering piles of snow and leaky office roof, it was sunny and warm (ish).  I took the snowplow off the truck for the first time in seven weeks and Felix and Luci and I went for a ride.   First stop was LL Beans in Freeport where I got some great new hiking boots.  Luci got a pair just like these last fall and has been raving about them.  Then we went over to Lee’s Family Camping Sales to their annual Open House.  We bought the last trailer from them and were completely satisfied.  We looked at some new models, just for fun and made arrangements to bring our trailer in for some very minor improvements and a thorough inspection in April.  While there, I entered their door prize raffle and won. After answering four Maine trivia questions worth $5 each, I could trade for what was behind one of three curtains.  I did and we ended up with two very nice director chairs worth about $100 each!  Cool!!!  Then we went to Cabellas and Luci got a very nice bright red raincoat and we used the last of Cabellas points so it only cost $10.  We stopped back at Beans on the way home and Luci got a nice daypack.
